The Dance of Meet and Retreat: Reconnecting to the 3 Dimensional Body
– An experiential workshop in embodied practices and Dance Movement Psychotherapy –
How have we attuned to clients working in person, online, outdoors?
How have our bodies endured the pandemic: the isolation, the lockdowns, the freedoms, the risks?
How have our senses contracted and expanded over the course of the pandemic?
In this workshop Dance Movement Therapist, Matilda Tonkin Wells, will reflect on the intertwining states of body and psyche. Together we will examine what it means and feels like to be embodied and creative beings in a new kind of reality. We will feel into what this reality has meant for our clinical work, the joys and challenges of adaptation and our own fluctuations in relation to the changing landscape.
Through connecting to the 3D body, you will be introduced to Dance Movement Therapy fundamentals which can support attunement to self and client in a time of great flux and change. This workshop will include a short presentation and discussion of the themes in addition to an experiential movement practice and art making.
This workshop is aimed at trainee and qualified arts therapists/counsellors/mental health professionals. Any levels of experience with movement or art are welcome to attend!
This workshop will be delivered via Zoom. You will need access to a confidential and comfortable space to move and make art in, as well as drawing materials of your choice.
